How can Reflexology help?

It is thought that Reflexology can provide the conditions which encourage the body’s innate healing ability to bring the body back to homeostasis – this is the level where the body’s systems and energies are all working together in a harmonious and balanced way to support good health.

Reflexology for pain

Reflexology can be very effective for those clients experiencing and living with pain.  Research has shown that within 1 hour of a Reflexology treatment, clients are able to tolerate pain for longer and are better able to cope with their pain. It is a safe and effective therapy which works well along side conventional drug treatments in conditions that are associated with pain. Reflexology and pain relief research

Reflexology for balanced health and wellness

There is good research evidence to support its effectiveness as a holistic therapy in the following areas:

  • relaxation
  • reducing anxiety and tension
  • pain management and relief
  • improving sleep
  • improving digestive issues
  • increased sense of wellbeing and improving mood
  • managing the side effects of cancer treatments

Many of my clients come initially for reflexology because they are struggling with a health condition or issue – common amongst these are hormonal imbalances, digestive problems, pain, skin conditions, headaches and muscular aches and pains to mention just a few.  Many pregnant mums find reflexology is a very comforting therapy in pregnancy and helps to ease the discomforts sometimes experienced during this time.

Reflexology Lymph Drainage

RLD is an award winning reflexology technique originally developed to help reduce lymphoedema in patients following surgery for breast cancer.  Lymphoedema is an accumulation of lymph fluid often caused by poor lymphatic transportation or damage to the lymphatic vessels.  It is characterised by swelling usually in the arms or legs.  Developed by Sally Kay, this technique is wonderfully gentle and research trials have shown it to be very effective in reducing secondary lymphoedema.  I am an approved and registered practitioner for Reflexology Lymph Drainage.
